Maldon Mud Race 2006

Event Success

Amount Raised

The total amount raised for all the organisers nominated charities by the Mad Maldon Mud Race 2006 so far‚ is:

£24‚000.00

An estimated 7‚000 spectators turned out to watch the 2006 Maldon Mud Race along with international‚ national and local press crews and BBC Essex and Essex FM radio stations. Started by Ray Clarke from BBC Radio Essex‚ 180 competitors raced through the mud of the River Blackwater at low tide. Richard Weston from Ipswich‚ runner up in the previous two races‚ was first home this year in an amazing time of 3mins 20 seconds. By contrast the last person home‚ Bob Burgess took just over half an hour. The organises would however like to congratulate all those who took part.

A Big Thank You to all the members of the public for their generous donations to the Mud Race 2006 Charities. We are hoping that this year’s event will raise over £30‚000 for charity‚ with all the costs of staging the event covered by corporate sponsorship or competitor entry fees.

Thanks

Our thanks to Maldon District Council‚ Chelmsford Sub-Aqua Club‚ St John Ambulance (Maldon)‚ Chelmsford Scouts‚ RAYNET‚ visiting Lions and Lionesses and a whole host of individuals who helped on the day.
